Founded in 2015, Focus Pilates is a fully equipped classical Pilates studio located in Frome, New Zealand. The studio offers a bright and airy space where students can focus on their bodies and movements. The sessions at Focus Pilates are flowing and dynamic, combining body and mind for a workout that leaves participants feeling strong, stretched, and invigorated.
The studio also houses a unique equipment line, all handmade in Frome. The goal of the equipment line is to provide beautiful and well-made classical Pilates equipment that can be used in both studios and homes. The equipment is designed to be strong enough to withstand constant use in a studio setting, yet affordable enough for individuals to have at home. Focus Pilates offers a range of products that complement any practitioner's practise.
At Focus Pilates, the team believes that exercise should always be a celebration of the body, never a punishment. Their mission is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all bodies and minds to become healthy, strong, and centred. The instructors at Focus Pilates are highly qualified and knowledgeable about both the body and the Pilates method. They are committed to Joseph Pilates' original methods and principles, striving to bring the classical Pilates method to a worldwide audience through the studio, social media, and the equipment line.
The team at Focus Pilates includes Lou Oakley-Green, a certified Pilates instructor through Peak Pilates, who focuses on the fundamentals of classical Pilates in her challenging and fun classes. Katie Brake, also a certified Pilates instructor through Peak Pilates, brings her expertise to the studio as well. Additionally, Ashley Gregory, the founder of Focus Pilates, is a comprehensively certified classical Pilates instructor. With a passion for helping clients achieve their Pilates and fitness goals, she aims to provide fun, challenging, and innovative sessions.
Focus Pilates offers various sessions to cater to different preferences and needs. Their group reformer and equipment classes have small groups of no more than five students. These classes utilise a variety of classical Pilates apparatus including the reformer, the tower, and the chair. The reformer classes follow the classical reformer order, while the mixed equipment classes combine the equipment into a dynamic, flowing class in the spirit of the Pilates method.
Prior to joining any group equipment class, a one-on-one session is required for safety and class continuity.
In addition to equipment classes, Focus Pilates also offers small group mat/tower classes with a maximum of seven students. These classes focus primarily on the classical mat work with assistance from the tower to increase flexibility, stability, and core strength.
Both the group equipment classes and the group mat/tower classes run on a term basis, with availability listed on the studio's website. Class rates range from 10 per class for the mat classes to 16 per class for the equipment classes. The sessions are scheduled in terms, with each term lasting several weeks.
With their passion for Pilates and commitment to providing a welcoming and empowering environment, Focus Pilates in Frome is the ideal destination for individuals looking to enhance their strength, flexibility, and overall well-being.
