Fladbury Cricket Club in Pershore is buzzing with activity. On Saturdays, the team takes part in the Cotswold Hills League Division 4, and on Sundays, they enjoy friendly matches with local teams. Midweek evenings are dedicated to a handful of thrilling 20/20 games, and they occasionally venture out for touring matches.
Nick Mytton, the Club Secretary, is dedicated to making cricket accessible for all, from seasoned players to complete beginners. Fladbury Cricket Club is keen to see new faces and help develop young talent to the highest standards, making sure everyone gets a fair shot on the field.
The club's roots can be traced back to 1876, and they've got a fascinating history. The field, now an important part of the local community, was bought in 1951 by the Fladbury Parish Council, with formal matches kicking off in 1954. Prominent figures like Sid Levett, Bob Philpotts, and Reg Brimmell (the club's first Secretary and captain) have shaped its rich heritage.
Leadership has seen notable names like Tom Mansell, Brian Broadbent, and the current President, Pete Sudlow. The club has competed against teams like Defford, Powick, and Bourton-on-the-Hill, with match timings once starting at 3 pm back in the day.
Joining the Cotswold Hills League in 2004, Fladbury Cricket Club quickly made an impact, earning promotion in their first year.
