Fishing at Kielder

Lockwood Beck Coarse Fishery, located in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, is excited to promote a fantastic local Fishing event at Kielder Water. Known as our boat fishery, Kielder Water offers anglers a vast expanse of over 2,000 acres to explore, ensuring that you can try out a different fishing spot every time you visit.

Whether you are a passionate angler or a seasoned competition participant, the huge reservoir at Kielder Water provides an exhilarating fishing experience. Our fleet of fully equipped motor boats is at your disposal, enabling you to make the most of this spectacular fishing location. But don't worry if you prefer fishing from the banks, as Lockwood Beck Coarse Fishery provides access to approximately 20 miles of shoreline along the Lakeside Way.

To make your experience even more convenient, permits and boat hire are readily available. If you plan to fish from the bank, you can purchase your permits from the Tower Knowe Visitor Centre bank from 10.00 am daily between April and October. For boat fishing, permits and boat hire can be obtained from the Kielder Waterside shop starting at 6.00 am until the end of the season. Please note that boat bookings need to be made in advance.

After a thrilling day on the water, remember to visit The Forest Bar & Kitchen for some replenishment. Indulge in a delicious bite to eat, sip on a hot beverage, or perhaps treat yourself to a refreshing drink.

Lockwood Beck Coarse Fishery offers various fishing permits to suit your needs. You can choose between full-day permits, concessions, and even permits with different prices based on the number of fish included. If you prefer boat fishing, we have both full-day and half-day options available, with separate pricing for weekdays and weekends.

For those looking to fish as a couple, our couples permit allows cohabiting couples, partners, and/or spouses to fish together. Additionally, they can bring along two of their children or grandchildren who are below the age of 17. If you prefer using two rods, our two rod permit is perfect for your needs. We also offer concessions permits to anglers who are aged 65 or over or hold a blue badge.

At Kielder, you will find several excellent fishing locations, including Stockie Bay, Hawkhope, and Kielder Waterside. Each spot possesses its own unique features and requires different casting distances. Please be aware that there may be water-skiing activities in certain areas, so anglers might need to relocate accordingly.
