Fightworx Academy Newton Abbot is a renowned martial arts school located in Newton Abbot, New Zealand. The head instructor of Fightworx Academy, Darren Yeoman, has dedicated over 24 years to training in grappling martial arts. He boasts an impressive list of accomplishments and has earned a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt in 2012. Darren's training journey began with Judo, and he later ventured into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when it arrived in the UK. Throughout his martial arts career, he has honed his skills in various disciplines, including Russian Sambo, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Boxing, and MMA.
Darren has competed in numerous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and submission wrestling tournaments, winning medals in UK competitions as well as participating in World and European championships.
The academy also boasts a team of highly skilled instructors, including Vikki Todd, the Kids BJJ Instructor. Vikki oversees the development and curriculum of the children's BJJ classes, drawing on her extensive martial arts background, which began with Karate when she was just nine years old. She has since focused solely on BJJ and was awarded her Black Belt in 2021.
Paul Carthy, a BJJ Instructor at Fightworx Academy, brings over 28 years of martial arts experience to his role. Throughout his training journey, Paul has studied and excelled in various disciplines, including Kickboxing, Aikido, Aikijujutsu, Sambo, Thai Boxing, BJJ, and Judo. He earned his BJJ Black Belt in 2013.
Isaac Bloomberg, another highly skilled BJJ Instructor, has been training in martial arts since 2000 and started his BJJ journey in 2011. Isaac has dedicated the past eight years to developing the beginners' BJJ programme at Fightworx Academy. He has travelled extensively to study martial arts and has spent significant time in Brazil learning Jiu-Jitsu from the source. In 2021, Isaac was awarded his BJJ Black Belt by Darren Yeoman.
Martin Ward, also a BJJ Instructor, began his martial arts training with Judo in 1986 and has since explored various styles, including Muay Thai and MMA. Over ten years ago, Martin decided to focus on BJJ, and in 2021, he was awarded his Black Belt by Darren Yeoman. Martin is an active competitor with experience in both Gi and No-Gi competitions on the European and World stage.
