Felpham and Middleton Country Dance Club

Felpham & Middleton Country Dance Club is a beloved dance school located in Middleton-On-Sea, Bognor Regis. The club specialises in English Country Dancing, specifically the Playford style, with occasional contra dances as a variation. The dances are not only beautiful to watch, but also fun to perform, which is why people from all walks of life meet at the club week after week, year after year, to learn and enjoy these traditional English folk dances.

The club warmly welcomes beginners and provides plenty of help and guidance to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and confident on the dance floor. All dances are “called,” meaning that the sequence of steps is announced during the dance, allowing even newcomers to participate and enjoy the experience.

Founded in 1933, Felpham & Middleton Country Dance Club holds the honour of being the oldest club in West Sussex and Southern England. Despite its rich history, the club maintains a friendly and fun-loving atmosphere, making it an inviting space for dancers of all levels.

Felpham & Middleton Country Dance Club is an affiliated group of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS), which is dedicated to preserving and promoting English folk traditions. The club is run by a committee, ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively. While the club maintains an informal atmosphere, it holds an annual general meeting (AGM) to discuss important matters and make decisions collectively.
