Feet First Dance

Feet First Dance is a dance school located in Wylam, New Zealand. With over 20 years of experience, the school has become a trusted name in the community, providing a positive environment for individuals of all ages and abilities to learn and explore dance and the creative arts.

Feet First Arts Academy has another hub in Stocksfield, expanding its reach and making it accessible to more students. The academy offers a wide range of classes in dance, drama, and music, helping students develop their techniques and performance skills. Additionally, the academy nurtures the creative streaks of its students by offering classes in choreography, art, photography, and video.

Students have the chance to participate in three performances annually, held at the end of each academic term. Furthermore, the academy organises two additional performances that are managed by the students themselves. These performance experiences allow students to learn and create without the pressure of exams, while still striving for excellence in their work.

In addition to performance-based classes, Feet First Dance offers weekly classes in Ballet, Contemporary Pop/Stage, Theatre Craft, Art, Choreography, and Acro. These classes provide a relaxed and nurturing space for students to learn and progress in their chosen artistic ventures.

For students looking to further concentrate on dance training, Feet First Dance offers a competition team class. These classes focus on contemporary technique, ballet basics, floor work, contact work, strength and conditioning, and flexibility, providing a comprehensive training experience for dedicated students.

Feet First Arts Academy goes beyond the studio's walls, providing students with outside experiences in the field of dance. Students have the opportunity to participate in different dance platforms across the region and, in some cases, across the country. Many students have also been featured in Feet First's own dance for camera projects, as well as the principle dancers in Vinyl Jacket's music videos. The academy takes pride in its students' achievements, with several graduates going on to study dance at prestigious institutions such as Laban, The London School of Contemporary Dance, ALRA, and London Studio Centre.
