Hey all,
James, our event organiser, has a message for the sports community. He wants to share some quick info about Farmer Johns MTB Park, located just outside Marple Bridge on the edge of the Peak District in Stockport.
Started by “Farmer” John Thorpe and his wife Jill, this park has become one of the top spots for MTB in England. They offer a range of downhill trails from Red to Black and Severe Black, so there's something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned rider or just starting out. There's also a brilliant dirt jumping park, established way back in 2007, which is very popular with riders in the North West.
Throughout the year, they host DH racing events, including the North West Championships, drawing riders from all over. Spectators are welcome at these races - it's free to watch.
The park's got an on-site café open on weekends and bank holidays. If it’s closed, riders can sign in at the Farmhouse. The park is open Tuesday to Sunday and on all bank holidays, though do check the specific opening times. Remember, on race days, the park is closed to non-entrants, but spectators can still come by.
Safety first – full-face helmets are a must. They’re not available to hire or borrow, so bring your own. Under 18s need to have a parent or guardian sign them in on-site, and if you’re under 13, you’ll need a parent or guardian with you at all times.
Passes are pretty affordable – £10 for the day or £40 for an annual membership, with each ride costing £2. No need to book in advance, just turn up and sign in. Payments can be made with cash or card, though there’s a minimum spend of £5.
When visiting, drive slowly into and out of the park, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome too.
If you’ve got any questions or need more info, reach out through the contact details provided or visit the park’s website for updates and news.
Hope to see you out there enjoying the rides!
Cheers,
James
