Welcome to the Family Karate School in Whitby, a proud member of the Family Karate Schools Association Kazoku Kai, established in 1994 and led by Hanshi Lou DeAdder, 8th Dan. Our traditional open style of Japanese/Okinawan Karate, known as 'Kazoku Kai', focuses on creating a family-oriented environment for individuals and families of all ages to train together, starting from 7 years old and up.
At Family Karate School, we offer classes for adults, teens, and children, focusing on physical fitness, weight loss, self-defence, respect, discipline, and motivation. Our classes not only develop martial arts skills but also character-building traits such as respect, confidence, self-esteem, and discipline, all of which carry over to everyday life.
Training at Family Karate School involves increasing physical fitness, mental awareness, attention span, flexibility, agility, balance, listening skills, and learning to handle confrontations. Self-defence is a key aspect of our curriculum, with the motto 'Confidence is knowing you do not have to fight'. Students receive a FREE Student Manual upon joining, which outlines the requirements from White Belt to Black Belt, helping them track their progress.
Our instructors at Family Karate School are dedicated to motivating and setting both short and long-term goals for students to work towards. With a focus on building confidence and instilling values of respect and discipline, our school aims to empower students both inside and outside the dojo.
