Welcome to this unique and very exciting adventure. Spinal Chord, a local Contemporary Dance club in Glasgow, is thrilled to announce a family circus class that is open to families who want to try different circus skills. The class focuses on aerial play and is ideal for children under 5 and their carers. Participants will have the opportunity to discover the basics of aerial circus equipment such as trapeze and aerial silks.
Spinal Chord creates a friendly and inclusive environment with a relaxed pace, allowing the children to get comfortable with the surroundings while the carers can ease their way into building stronger core muscles and body confidence.
But that's not all! In addition to the aerial play, Spinal Chord offers other classes for mums. One of them is a postnatal recovery class that incorporates gentle exercises with the baby by their side. It includes basic warm-up and strengthening exercises as well as conditioning preparation. For those feeling adventurous, there is even an opportunity to try the aerial equipment with low height and supervision.
Furthermore, the class includes a parent and tots section for toddlers who are more mobile. This part of the class focuses on parent-child interaction through team play and exercise. The children will explore being off the floor at low heights on the equipment, while the parent has the option to learn the basics on the equipment to provide support for playing in the air with their child.
Spinal Chord's family class is not just about aerial skills. It also offers the opportunity to explore general circus skills like juggling, floor acrobatics, handstands, acrobalance, and more. Children can become familiar with aerial equipment, and parents have the chance to be involved in various exercises. All aerial work is taught by trained Spinal Chord instructors. Parents can help their child socialise and explore their creativity through this class.
The family class takes place on Sundays from 10:30am to 11:30am at The Firhill Complex, 87 Hopehill Road, G20 7HH. Currently, there are 8 places left, so make sure to secure your spot soon. The cost for a single class is £8.
