Falkirk Golf Club, also known locally as Carmuirs, is a prestigious golf club located in the heart of Central Scotland. Established in 1922, the club has a rich history and offers an exceptional 18-hole course that will challenge golfers of all skill levels.
Originally surveyed by renowned golf course architect James Braid, Falkirk Golf Club has implemented Braid's recommendations, including alterations to tees and greens, as well as a comprehensive bunkering scheme. Over the years, the club has seen the addition of new holes, resulting in a layout that is quite different from its early days.
Spanning 6,230 yards on a scenic 116-acre undulating site, the course features a mix of challenging and picturesque holes. The opening and closing par fives, “The Spire” and "Hame” respectively, are tree-lined and demand full concentration from golfers. These holes provide a thrilling start and finish to the round.
The par threes on the course are all well-designed one-shot holes, with the 205-yard 13th hole, known as “Shelter Hall,” being the most difficult. Playing uphill against the prevailing wind, this hole presents a formidable challenge with out of bounds on the left, trees on the right, and a bunker protecting the green.
One of the standout holes at Falkirk Golf Club is the 367-yard 10th hole, named “Canal Wheel. ” This hole has become the signature hole of the club since the introduction of the iconic Falkirk Wheel in 2002. Golfers tee off across a gully towards the impressive rotating boat lift, creating a stunning backdrop for this memorable hole.
Falkirk Golf Club extends a warm welcome to all visitors, offering a range of facilities and amenities. The club's Ladies Section provides an inclusive and vibrant golfing community for female golfers. With a dedicated practise area and excellent practise facilities, golfers can sharpen their skills before taking on the course.
