Falaise Indoor Bowls Club

Brian Maquire would like to extend a warm invitation from the heart of Hastings. The Falaise Indoor Bowls Club has roots deeply tied to the community, dating back to the days following the second world war. Originally set up by the Council with two rinks in White Rock Gardens, the interest in indoor bowls quickly grew.

By 1964, the sport's popularity led to transforming two pre-war buildings near the Oval Recreation Ground into a versatile facility. Recognising the growing needs, Brian Maquire and Ted Mitchell, supported by others, engaged with the Council in the mid-seventies. This resulted in securing the club’s future, making Falaise Bowls Association the official tenants from October 1st, 1977.

The first Board of Directors included committed individuals like Brian Maquire, Ted Mitchell, Reg Small, Jack Thomley, Bernard Bickford, Charles Jennings, and Mrs. Vi Doyle. While multiple clubs initially operated within the Centre, a decision in the late eighties saw them all unifying under Falaise I.

Between 1989 and 1990, the Centre underwent significant improvements, adding proper restaurant and bar facilities to enhance members' experience. Today, the Falaise Indoor Bowls Club is a lively and inviting place for bowlers at every skill level. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a casual player, there are ample opportunities for everyone, including regular competitions, leagues, and tournaments.

The club's vibrant community is driven by its dedicated members who coach, promote the sport, organise events, and maintain the facilities. It's a place where lasting friendships are made, all centered around a shared love for indoor bowls.
