The Chairman, CJ is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the club, including coordinating training programmes and regatta participation. He works closely with the coaching staff to ensure the development and success of both the Junior and Adult sections.
Junior Coach Sarah Johnson Sarah has been involved in rowing for over 10 years, both as a rower and a coach. She joined Fairlop Rowing Club in 2014 and has since been instrumental in the growth and development of the Junior section. As the Junior Coach, Sarah designs and implements training plans, provides technical instruction, and supports the young rowers in their competitive pursuits.
Membership Coordinator Emma Thompson Emma joined Fairlop Rowing Club in 2016 and immediately became an active member of the club. As the Membership Coordinator, she manages the registration process for new members, handles membership fees, and maintains the club's database. Emma is the primary point of contact for any membership inquiries and ensures that all members are informed about club activities and events.
Facilities The rowing club is located within Fairlop Waters Country Park, providing a picturesque and convenient setting for rowing activities. The club has access to a boathouse, equipped with a variety of rowing shells suitable for different age groups and skill levels. The waters of Fairlop Lake offer ideal conditions for rowing, with calm and steady currents.
Training Programmes Fairlop Rowing Club offers a range of training programmes for both adults and juniors. Learn to Row courses are regularly conducted, providing beginners with the opportunity to learn the basics of rowing and progress to more advanced techniques. Indoor training sessions are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, while on-the-water training takes place throughout the week. The club's experienced coaches provide personalised instruction to help individuals improve their rowing skills and fitness levels.
Row Fitness For those who are not interested in rowing on the water but still want to stay fit, Fairlop Rowing Club offers Row Fitness sessions. These sessions utilise rowing machines, free weights, and bodyweight exercises to deliver a high-intensity full body workout. Led by qualified instructors, Row Fitness classes provide a unique and effective way to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and overall health.
Race Participation Fairlop Rowing Club actively participates in local and national regattas, providing members with the opportunity to compete against other rowing clubs and showcase their skills. The club covers race entry fees for its members, and race fees are paid directly to the Head Coach. To participate in races, members must have British Rowing Race Membership.
Membership Fees The club's rowing year runs from October to September, and membership fees can be paid in full or in instalments upon request. Junior membership fees for the 2021/22 period are 232 for annual membership or 33 per year and 7. 10 per week for pay-as-you-go. Adult membership fees are 290 for annual membership or 63 per year and 8.
