Europa Way BMX Pump Track, located in Cheadle Heath, Adswood, Stockport, was designed and constructed by Clark & Kent Contractors in collaboration with Stockport Metropolitan Council. The track was created as part of the You Say-We Pay scheme proposal, with the aim of providing a small BMX play track on a recreation ground.
Due to the successful track projects previously completed by Clark & Kent in Manchester and Cheshire, they were chosen to implement the design and build of Europa Way Pump Track within the allocated budget. The track follows a typical design, featuring four straights and three 180 berms.
As the site was prone to wet conditions, a surface water soakaway system was installed to address the saturated ground conditions. To minimise damage to the existing ground, all construction materials were carefully brought onto the track site. Construction methods used were suitable for the UK climate, including earth-based material, a stone sub-base layer, and a limestone top surface dressing.
To ensure maximum grip for BMX riders and minimise future maintenance, tarmac was applied to both the start hill and the corners. Landscaping efforts involved reusing existing topsoil to shape the surrounding area, blending it with the new track, and sowing it with grass seed. Access routes to the track site were restored upon completion.
The grand opening of Europa Way BMX Pump Track was attended by the Masters category BMX World Champion. Since then, the track has become a popular destination for both local Stockport BMX riders and those from further afield, attracted to the exciting features and design of this small yet fantastic pump track.
