Essential Pilates, located in Muswell Hill, North London, is a Pilates studio offering a variety of classes and personal training sessions. Owned and operated by Carol Clarke, a highly experienced and certified Pilates instructor, Essential Pilates is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages and abilities achieve their health and fitness goals.
With a true passion for Pilates, Carol Clarke has been teaching Pilates since 2005 and has studied Classical Pilates in both the UK and the USA. She is well-versed in teaching Pilates to beginners, advanced students, as well as individuals with sports injuries, pre, and post-natal needs, and those recovering from surgery. Carol teaches from her home studio, providing a comfortable and personalised setting for clients.
Carol's qualifications speak to her commitment to excellence and ongoing professional development. As a member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), she stays up to date with the latest advancements in the field. She completed a full-time 8-month apprenticeship at Pilates International in Highgate, London, specialising in rehabilitation. In addition, Carol holds a Masters in Classical Pilates from The Pilates Centre in Boulder, Colorado, which is considered the “Harvard of the Pilates world.
To further enhance her knowledge and expertise, Carol regularly attends workshops and trains with renowned industry leaders such as Jay Grimes, Cara Reeser, and Amy and Rachel Alpers, who were the first students of Joseph Pilates' protege, Romana Kryzanowska. Carol's dedication to continuous learning ensures that clients at Essential Pilates receive the highest quality instruction and guidance.
In addition to Pilates, Carol is also a graduate of the Yoga Academy, where she studied with Simon Low, a co-founder of Triyoga and a leading figure in the yoga community. She is a registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance in both the UK and USA and is also a British Wheel of Yoga accredited teacher.
Carol's personal journey with Pilates began in 1997 when she sought treatment for a back injury. After experiencing firsthand the transformative power of Pilates in her own recovery, she decided to pursue a career in Pilates instruction. Her choice to train with Pilates International and The Pilates Centre was driven by her desire to study the original, classical method of Pilates on both mat and studio equipment, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the discipline.
At Essential Pilates, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment, tailored workouts that address their specific needs and goals, and guidance from a dedicated and knowledgeable instructor. Currently, due to Covid restrictions, Carol is offering classes and one-on-one sessions via Zoom, ensuring that clients can continue their Pilates practise from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Whether you are a beginner looking to explore Pilates, an experienced practitioner seeking to deepen your practise, or someone in need of specialised Pilates for rehabilitation or pre/post-natal care, Essential Pilates is the ideal place to achieve your physical fitness goals. With Carol Clarke's expertise and passion for Pilates, you can trust that your journey to improved strength, flexibility, and overall well-being is in capable hands.
