E S Marks Athletics Field, located in Kensington, is Australia's largest community sporting precinct and the closest track and field training facility to Sydney's CBD. It reopened on Monday 27 June with modified access until major upgrades are completed in July 2022 (weather permitting). Known by locals as 'esmark', the E S Marks Athletics Field has been an important facility for Sydney's athletics community for over a century.
The facility offers a range of features and amenities to cater to the needs of athletes and spectators. It boasts a 400-metre synthetic international-standard running track, which was laid in 2013. The track is ideal for training and hosting carnivals. The grandstand provides covered seating for up to 1,000 spectators, offering a comfortable viewing experience.
The field also has a premium sports field for various sports activities.
For events such as discus and shot put, there is a dedicated cage, allowing athletes to safely practise their throws. Additionally, there is a long jump pit and a shot put training zone. The facility also includes change rooms, a first aid room, an officials' room equipped with a PA system, and a meeting room for administrative purposes. Floodlighting is available for nighttime use, ensuring that athletes can train even after sunset.
A canteen is available by special arrangement, offering refreshments to participants and spectators.
