Esher Cricket Club in Surrey, formed in 1863, is a cornerstone for cricket enthusiasts. Duncan Pauline, steering the ship, showcases a setup where players from under 5s to over 60s can thrive. Holding firm to the MCC Spirit of Cricket, Esher's first XI contests in the elite Surrey Championship Division, while the second XI matches this standard in the premiership.
Esher's teams are on the rise—third XI clinched Division 1 in 2021, with the fourth XI moving up to Division 3 by 2024 after successive promotions. Meanwhile, the fifth XI is set for their third league year. Matches for these XIs take place at Imber Court.
Youth development is front and centre with over 650 participants under 19. They train year-round, play in over 700 summer matches, and join winter and holiday courses. Esher’s young squads are no strangers to honours, contributing 70+ players to Surrey CCC’s programmes and boasting the U13s as ECB National Champions in 2021.
The coaching team includes four with international caps, all under Pauline’s direction. Esher Cricket Club is Clubmark recognised, prioritising player safety and welfare.
Socially, the club is vibrant—events like their end-of-season ball, town lunch, and comedy night keep the community spirit alive. The clubhouse, equipped with catering and a licensed bar, serves as a prime event venue.
Set in serene, tree-lined grounds, Esher Cricket Club is fitted with top-notch facilities: a main and four youth squares, an artificial wicket, seven net lanes, two batting cages, and three new nets added in 2023. Imber Court offers additional excellent pitches.
With a clubhouse that accommodates up to 150 and a scenic patio, it's an ideal spot for summer events. For venue hire details, check out the club’s website. Esher Cricket Club remains a thriving hub for all cricket lovers in the community.
