Ericht Scottish Country Dance Club

Carol Bisset wants to share some exciting news from the Ericht Scottish Country Dance Club in Blairgowrie, Perthshire! Since 1995, this club named after the river Ericht that winds through town, has been a joyful hub for all things Scottish Country dancing.

Carol’s aim, along with the Club's mission, is to spread the love for Scottish dancing. With around 50 members, ranging in age and experience, it’s one of the largest clubs in Perthshire. Affiliated with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in Edinburgh and close ties with the Perth Branch, the Club fosters a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

Classes take place in Autumn and Spring, with various dances sprinkled throughout the year. Blairgowrie Town Hall on Brown Street is the go-to spot for both classes and dances. Everyone, from beginners to seasoned dancers, is welcome. Carol ensures that every dance is re-capped, making it easy for newcomers to join in the fun.

One of the perks of the Club is the fantastic bands that play at the dances. Carol, with her wealth of experience, leads the classes, encouraging everyone to have a go. If you’re new to Scottish dancing, no worries! The Club offers a couple of free taster classes to get you started.

The Club’s events, including the Annual Dance, the members-only Supper Dance, the Trifle Dance (organised by the Perth Branch Dance), and Summer Dance, all take place at Blairgowrie Town Hall. Check out the Location page for maps and directions.

Dances usually kick off at 7:30 pm and wrap up around 11 pm. Entry for dancers is £8, except for the September Charity Dance, which is £10. Spectators can join in for £4, no advance booking needed.
