Founded in the heart of Merseyside, Empire Netball Club is the largest and most prestigious netball club in the North West of England. With over 150 dedicated women and girls as members, Empire Netball Club is committed to providing a supportive and empowering environment for players of all skill levels.
One of the highlights of the club's calendar is the annual “Mark the Memories” Netball Tournament. Held at Chesterfield High School in Crosby, this charity event aims to raise funds for the Mark Edwards Foundation. While the event had to be put on hold in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions, the club's head coaches, Jenny and Michelle, were determined to make this year's tournament even more successful. In 2022, they welcomed 44 teams from across Merseyside, totalling over 350 athletes aged 9 to 15, to showcase their netball skills and contribute to the charitable cause.
Through entry fees, court sponsorship, and a raffle, an incredible 2583. 36 was raised for the foundation. The Mark Edwards Foundation was established in memory of Mark Edwards, a devoted husband and father, who tragically passed away from cancer in 2017. With the foundation's support, talented athletes receive assistance with training costs, equipment, and travel expenses for competitions.
Empire Netball Club remains committed to supporting the foundation in the years to come.
In addition to the “Mark the Memories” tournament, Empire Netball Club regularly competes in both Junior and Senior competitions. The Winter League, running from September to April, and the Summer League, running from May to August, provide players with ample opportunities to showcase their skills and develop their passion for netball. The club also participates in the Merseyside “Think Pink” Tournament and hosts its own Mark the Memories Tournament for Junior and Senior players.
Empire Netball Club prides itself on its participation in the Liverpool Netball League, where it currently fields five teams on Sundays. The league, held from September to April annually, includes a parallel Cup Competition. Additionally, Empire Netball Club has nine teams competing in the Merseyside Junior League on Saturdays. The junior league runs from late September to April, culminating in the Merseyside “Think Pink” Junior Netball Tournament in May.
The success and growth of Empire Netball Club would not be possible without the invaluable support of its sponsors. Recognising their importance, the club proudly showcases its sponsors on its website and social media platforms. From local businesses to national organisations, Empire Netball Club is grateful for the support that allows its members to thrive.
