Elton Furze gets its name from the yellow-flowered furze bush that grows in the surrounding ancient woodland.

Notable holes include the 7th, a tough 432-yard par 4, needing skill and judgement to handle ditches, bunkers, and a slanting tree. The 11th hole, a 527-yard par 5, has a long fairway perfect for long drives but also requires strategic play near the green.
