Elmfield Gymnastics Club, located in Doncaster, is a well-established gymnastics club that offers high-quality and enjoyable gymnastics lessons for children aged 18 months and above. Founded in 1976 by Mr Pete Sampey, the club has a rich history and has seen several Head Coaches, with Jodie Wadsworth currently serving as the Head Coach since 2005.
In its early years, the club operated out of Elmfield House in Doncaster town centre, which is where it got its name. However, in 2010, the club made a significant move to its current location in Rossington, where it has its permanent venue. In 2014, the club expanded its venue by adding two more units, increasing the space available and allowing the addition of a foam pit. This enhancement not only improves the safety of the gymnasts but also facilitates the development of their skills to a higher level.
Elmfield Gymnastics Club is a not-for-profit organisation, meaning that any funds received are reinvested back into the club. These funds are used for equipment upgrades, enhancing the qualifications of coaches, and managing the overall operations of the club. Currently, the club caters to approximately 250 children and prides itself on providing a friendly and family-oriented environment.
The club offers gymnastics and trampolining classes for children starting from 18 months onwards. They strongly encourage their members to continue their gymnastics journey and stay with the club through coaching, judging, and volunteering opportunities. Elmfield Gymnastics Club also strives to provide new experiences for its gymnasts, organising events such as an annual display to showcase their skills and a club competition where they can experience participating in a gymnastics competition.
During their lessons, the gymnasts work through the Elmfield Gymnastics award scheme, with certificates being awarded free of charge as they pass each certificate level. The club also takes part in competitions and events across the country, including display events, women's artistic, men's artistic, trampolining, tumbling, general gymnastics, and disability gymnastics. Elmfield Gymnastics Club boasts numerous successes in these competitions, with medaling achievements at the British Championships.
Elmfield Gymnastics Club is currently in the process of updating its website, but in the meantime, interested individuals can find more information and updates on their Facebook page. The club offers a range of classes, including competition classes, tumbling, trampolining, new starter classes, pre-school classes, general gymnastics, display team, sports acrobatics, holiday camps, and more. Due to high demand, all classes have waiting lists, but individuals can complete a form to be added to the waiting list for open-to-all classes. Competitive gymnastics classes are by invitation only, and gymnasts must meet the required skill level for these classes.
