Elite Dance Works

Elite Dance Works is a dance school located in Colchester, Essex. Their mission is to provide the highest standard of dance training for individuals who want to dance for fun, fitness, or pursue a career within the performing arts.

All classes at Elite Dance Works are held at Home Farm Primary School on Shelley Road in Lexden. The spacious and well-equipped studio provides a comfortable and professional environment for dancers of all ages and abilities.

The school prides itself on offering a fun and friendly atmosphere where students can achieve their potential, build their confidence, and extend their skills. Whether a beginner or an experienced dancer, Elite Dance Works welcomes everyone and ensures that dancing remains a joyful activity.

In addition to their children's programme, Elite Dance Works also offers a new Adult Class called FULL BODY STRETCH. This class takes place on Mondays at St Johns Community Centre and on Wednesdays at Tollgate Hall in Stanway. Suitable for all ages and abilities, this class helps improve participants' range of movement, balance, posture, and flexibility. Attendees leave feeling invigorated and ready for the day ahead.

The first lesson is free of charge, and there is no need to book ahead. The fee per class is 6. The class is instructed by Hayley Palmer, a qualified ISTD teacher of Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, with 27 years of experience in teaching dance to children and adults.

Elite Dance Works offers a wide range of dance styles to cater to different interests and preferences. Ballet, the most beautiful and graceful of all dance styles, serves as the foundation for techniques used in many other dance genres. Modern dance, a high-energy style, originated in America and features rhythmic movements, high kicks, leaps, and turns. Tap dance, often seen in musical productions, involves striking the floor with the feet to create rhythmic sounds using specialised tap shoes.

Jazz dance combines styles and techniques from various popular dance forms, characterised by fancy footwork, quick turns, body isolations, and a focus on strength, flexibility, and stamina.

The school provides a detailed timetable outlining the classes for each term, available on their website. The autumn term timetable includes various classes such as Senior Ballet, Senior Modern, Senior Jazz, Ballet for Home Farm students in years 1 & 2, Pointe work class, Rhythm and Grace (a dance class for children age 5 and under), Primary Ballet, Junior Tap, and Grade I & II Ballet.
