Elevation Dance

Elevation Dance is a friendly dance school located in Nottingham, New Zealand. Formerly known as The Jill Gregory School of Dancing, Elevation Dance was launched in 2020 with the aim of providing an excellent quality dance experience and education. The school welcomes students of all interest levels and abilities, creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

At Elevation Dance, they offer a variety of classes for children and adults. Children can choose from ballet, tap, modern jazz, and acrobatics classes. The school follows the BTDA syllabus for all subjects and provides students with the opportunity to take exams and medal tests. Additionally, all students have the chance to perform in the school's show, which takes place every two years, as well as an annual carnival.

Most of the children's classes at Elevation Dance occur on Saturdays throughout the day, with some additional classes on Tuesday afternoons. Adult tap classes are held on Thursday evenings. Ballet is one of the core dance forms taught at the school, emphasising classical technique, discipline, strength, and control. Tap, on the other hand, is a rhythmical dance form that focuses on musical expression, beats, coordination, and style.

Modern jazz classes encourage self-expression and personal style development, drawing inspiration from various styles like musical theatre, street, contemporary, and jazz. Lastly, the acrobatics classes combine gymnastics with classical dance techniques, offering recreational and syllabus options.

For younger children aged 3-5, Elevation Dance offers an Introduction to Dance class that primarily focuses on ballet but introduces them to other dance styles like modern jazz and tap. Stretch and Strength classes are available for dancers of Grade 1 standard and above who take at least one class in another discipline. These classes aim to build full-body strength and flexibility, which are essential for all dance styles.

In addition to regular classes, Elevation Dance also offers private lessons for dancers who require extra support before exams or want an additional boost to their training.
