Melbourne West Basketball Club is excited to announce the upcoming EKS Award event! This is a fantastic opportunity for all the talented athletes out there to showcase their exceptional leadership skills, both on and off the court.
The EKS Award, named after the renowned Special Olympics founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, holds immense significance in the sporting community. It's a chance for athletes like you to be recognised for the amazing contributions you've made, not just in the realm of sports but also in your communities.
This prestigious award is open to all Special Olympics Australia athletes. So if you've been putting in the hard work and going above and beyond, don't hesitate to nominate yourself or any other deserving athlete you know. It's a chance to acknowledge their outstanding efforts and the positive impact they've been making in their surroundings.
We owe a heartfelt thanks to Dr John Day, an incredible Australian volunteer, who generously donated the very medal he received from Mrs Shriver way back in 1976. This heartfelt gesture marked the beginning of Special Olympics in Australia, and it serves as a reminder of the profound impact sporting events can have on individuals' lives.
So mark your calendars and get ready to be a part of the electrifying EKS Award event! It's an opportunity to celebrate the unbelievable accomplishments of our dedicated athletes and honour the legacy of an extraordinary woman who changed the game for all of us. Let's come together and make this event a memorable one!
