About
Edmonton Community Dance, established 37 years ago by Francis Saddy, offers a wide range of recreational dance classes at an affordable price in Edmonton. In 2003, the North side of the dance company was sold to Tara and Mike Flewwelling, who have been dedicated to providing fun and progressive dance lessons to the community. Tara, the Executive Director, has over 45 years of dance experience and 32 years of teaching experience, along with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta.
The dance school offers classes in baby ballet/creative movement, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and more in community halls and recreational facilities north of the North Saskatchewan River. The program is recreational in nature and culminates in a large performance at the end of each session. In-house performances are also held for the younger students to showcase their progress.
Registration for the 2023/2024 dance season is now open, with classes running from late September to mid-May. The fees for each session vary depending on the length of the class, with costume fees also applicable. Payment for each half of the year is due by specific dates, with refund policies in place for cancelations made before certain deadlines.
Edmonton Community Dance accepts payments only through Interac e-transfer at this time. For more information or to contact the school, individuals can reach out to Tara or Mike Flewwelling via email or phone. The dance classes are held in Callingwood Community Hall, offering a convenient location for aspiring dancers in the area.
