The Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena, affectionately known as EMMA, is a vibrant ice skating rink located in Athalmer. Established in the mid-1960s, the arena is owned and operated by the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) and serves as the home rink for the Columbia Valley Rockies of the KIJHL, as well as a hub for various minor and recreational hockey programs, figure skating, and public skating programs.
Ice time rentals at the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena can be booked by contacting Colin Peet at 250-342-6712 or via email at cpeet@rdek. Bc. ca. The process involves checking the online schedule for available ice time, completing the “One-time Use Application,” providing a certificate of insurance, and having the ice times posted on the calendar by the Arena Manager.
Public skating times are updated regularly on the calendar, and drop-in fees for public skating sessions are $5 per person or $12 per family, payable in cash only. The arena also offers season passes for the convenience of regular visitors.
