Darnall & Handsworth Chess Club is excited to announce the ECF Grand Prix Event, a 6-round Swiss tournament for chess players happening on March 23, 2024. This FIDE Rapidplay event will be held in London, with renowned International Arbiter Adam Raoof as the Chief Arbiter. Chief Geoff D Brown and Assistant Phill Beckett will also be lending their expertise to ensure a smooth and fair competition.
Players can easily enter the tournament online or through the downloadable PDF entry form, although online entry is the preferred method. It is recommended for participants to be current members of the English Chess Federation at SILVER level or above to take advantage of lower entry fees. If there are any entry-related concerns, players can reach out to Geoff Brown at 07931 563 787.
Exciting prizes are up for grabs in different sections, with the first prize in the Open section being a handsome £140. The tournament will consist of 6 rounds, and winners will receive their prizes via bank transfer as there will not be a formal prize-giving ceremony. Darnall & Handsworth Chess Club would like to inform participants that they reserve the right to capture photographs for publicity purposes. Should anyone wish to opt out, they can notify Entry Secretary Geoff Brown in writing before the tournament kicks off.
