Amanda Horne has been shaking up the dance scene in Sheffield since '92 with Ecco Dance School. From its humble start in a church hall in Ecclesfield to its latest home at 122 Scotland Street, Ecco has grown into a buzzing dance community.
In 2012, Amanda moved Ecco to The Nichols Building, then upgraded again in 2018 to a brand-new studio that felt like home straight away. The studio's vibe is just perfect for all the aspiring dancers out there.
Under Amanda’s steady guidance, Ecco has trained loads of champions in Freestyle, Slow, Rock 'n' Roll, and Street Dance. Some have even bagged nominations for the prestigious IDTA Freestyle Scholarships. Ecco’s talent has also shone on stage in local theatres like the Lyceum and Crucible.
Amanda's reach goes beyond performance, as many of her students have landed spots at top arts schools like Italia Conti, Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Bird College, and more. Ecco Theatre Arts offers a wide range of classes in ballet, theatre, tap, street, freestyle, contemporary, and performing arts, welcoming kids as young as two and even offering adult tap classes.
Ecco students can take IDTA and performing arts exams, giving them that structured learning edge. Plus, they get the thrill of competing in A.F.P freestyle, rock 'n' roll, and street dance competitions.
The bi-annual dance show and annual performing arts showcase give students plenty of chances to show off their hard work. Throughout the year, Amanda also organises presentations and displays, providing a stage for students to dazzle friends, family, and the community.
Amanda’s dedicated and fully qualified teaching team, all DBS checked, ensures top-notch instruction. Ecco also offers studio hire for external groups, encouraging collaboration and community spirit in the local dance scene.
