Passion. In his later years, he managed to complete a University education and serve his community as a schoolmaster. Following the death of his teacher, Miyagi Chojun Sensei, in 1953, Miyazato Sensei began to teach at his home as well as at the Jundokan Dojo. By the time of his death on December 11, 1999, Miyazato Sensei had elevated the rank of students from all over the world and was promoted to 10th Dan.
Miyazato Senseis dream was that Jundokan Dojo would continue teaching Goju-ryu Karate in its pure form forever. In this he was successful. The current head of the Jundokan is Yonamine Takayoshi Sensei. This Dojo, Higaonna Kanryo and Miyagi Chojun Senseis lineage in Okinawa Goju-ryu Karate, is open to the public, all lovers of Karate-do and anyone interested in becoming a Karateka.
East Wind Budo Life Centre, located in Ottawa, offers traditional Okinawa Goju-ryu Karate system from its roots in Naha, Okinawa, Japan as passed down by Grand Masters Higaonna Kanryo, Miyagi Chojun, and Miyazato Eiichi. The Dojo is led by Sensei Anthony Genovese, a direct student of Grand Master Nakamura Tadashi who learned from Miyazato Eiichi. Sensei Genovese has over 25 years of experience in martial arts and is dedicated to passing on the teachings of his Masters to his students. The Dojo offers classes for adults and children, teaching techniques, forms, and practical applications of Goju-ryu Karate.
Students will also learn about the history and philosophy of Karate, incorporating the three pillars of mind, technique, and body in their training. The East Wind Budo Life Centre also offers Kobudo, the ancient weapon systems of Okinawa, and Tai Chi classes for those interested in exploring other martial arts forms.
