Eastdale Reserve

Eastdale Reserve is a picturesque park, located at 33-37 Eastdale Road in Avondale, Auckland. The name of the reserve, 'Eastdale', derives from the original name of the street it is situated on, Avondale Road East. The reserve is nestled at the base of the Rosebank Peninsula, adjacent to the Avondale School campus.

The highlight of Eastdale Reserve is its five well-maintained sports fields, which are mainly used for athletics, cricket, and football. These fields provide a vibrant and lively atmosphere for sports enthusiasts to engage in their favourite activities. In addition to the sports fields, the reserve offers several recreational opportunities for the whole family.

For children, there is a delightful playground where they can enjoy various play equipment, keeping them entertained and active. A basketball hoop is also available for those who wish to practise their shooting skills. The reserve also features fitness equipment, allowing individuals of all ages to maintain their fitness levels.

A looped perimeter path surrounds the park, providing easy access to different amenities and facilities within the reserve. Flat paths run around the perimeter of the sports fields, connecting different areas of the park and providing accessible routes to the playground, car park, and toilets. However, it is important to note that access to the changing rooms is restricted by steps, which may pose a barrier to those with mobility challenges.

Two clubs call Eastdale Reserve their home: Avondale Athletics Club and Lynn Avon United Football Club. These clubs contribute to the vibrant sports community and offer opportunities for individuals to engage in their preferred sport.

As with most parks in Auckland, certain regulations apply at Eastdale Reserve. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, ensuring the safety and comfort of all visitors. Alcohol is prohibited in certain areas of the reserve, as determined by the alcohol bans set by Auckland Council. Smoking is also not permitted within the park grounds.

Visitors are encouraged to use the provided bins for proper waste disposal, and open fires are strictly prohibited.
