Welcome to East Bowral Physiotherapy, where high quality, individualised physiotherapy services are provided to clients in Bowral and the surrounding areas. Whether you visit our clinic, or prefer the convenience of our mobile service at your home or workplace, we are here to help you improve your physical wellbeing.
Our mobile physiotherapy service is particularly beneficial for those with walking problems, as well as for falls prevention and fracture casting. We proudly offer physio home visits to most of the Southern Highlands, including Bowral, Moss Vale, Mittagong, Avoca, Burrawang, Exeter, Robertson, Yerrinbool, Burradoo, Berrima, Sutton Forest, and Colo Vale. Additionally, we offer physiotherapy services for those who are part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), providing care at your home or at our spacious clinic. Please note that to access our NDIS physiotherapy services, you will need to be NDIS plan managed.
The team at East Bowral Physiotherapy specialises in fracture casting, musculoskeletal issues, and mobility maintenance. Our approach focuses on long-term improvements rather than short-term symptomatic relief. We believe in addressing the root cause of your condition to provide lasting results.
Convenience is a priority for us, which is why our clinic offers plenty of parking space, making it easy for you to access our treatment area. Our experienced physiotherapist, Les Alford, completed his undergraduate physiotherapy degree from Sydney University in 1992. After gaining valuable experience in Hobart, Les went on to work as a locum physiotherapist in the UK. It was during this time that he realised the limitations of passive treatments such as massage, manipulation, and acupuncture, which only provided short-term relief.
Motivated to find a more effective approach, Les pursued a Research Masters with training in Occupational Health and Chronic Pain Management. After completing his Masters and conducting research on chronic low back pain, Les worked for 8 years as a Lecturer/Practitioner in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at The University of East Anglia. Throughout his academic career, Les published articles in physiotherapy and medical journals, with a focus on pain, evidence-based practise, and exercise.
His extensive clinical experience and expertise in primary and secondary research have greatly influenced his clinical philosophy. Les firmly believes in incorporating research and scientific evidence into his practise. He emphasises that passive treatments, while providing short-term relief, do not provide long-term improvements for chronic or recurrent conditions affecting joints, muscles, tendons, and vertebral discs, especially in the back, neck, and shoulder regions.
At East Bowral Physiotherapy, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of physiotherapy services to address all your needs. Whether you require fracture casting, mobility assessment and walking aid prescription, falls prevention education and exercise, musculoskeletal assessment and treatment, ergonomic workplace assessment, rehabilitation following injury or surgery, management of arthritis, small group exercise classes, or neck and back pain assessment and management, we have you covered.
Trust East Bowral Physiotherapy to provide you with the highest standard of care, tailored to your unique needs and goals. Contact us today to book an appointment and take the first step towards improving your physical wellbeing.
