Dunham Massey Angling Club is a small fishing club located in North Cheshire, dedicated to providing non-commercial style fishing experiences on natural farmland waters. The club aims to cater to anglers who seek a peaceful day of sport in serene surroundings, reminiscent of the waters where they caught their first fish. The club proudly holds fishing rights to the renowned Heatley Mere in Lymm, as well as a couple of other productive farm pools where members can enjoy a fantastic day of fishing for a wide variety of species including Roach, Rudd, Perch, Skimmers, Hybrids, Bream, Carp, Tench, and Pike.
The dedicated members of Dunham Massey Angling Club deeply care about fish conservation and the environment they fish in. They warmly welcome individuals who share the same passion for fish and the fishing experience, encouraging them to join the club and contribute to its endeavours.
One of the club's flagship waters is Fingerpost Pool, which boasts abundant stocks of Rudd, Carp, Chub, Perch, Roach, and Tench. This tranquil pool, located just south of Knutsford, is nestled in farmland shielded from the road by woodland. It provides an excellent opportunity for anglers to indulge in a peaceful day of fishing and is particularly suitable for teaching beginners or juniors the basics of angling. The pool also holds some surprises, including a sizeable population of carp that can provide an adrenaline rush when unexpectedly caught.
Anglers targeting carp are advised to use balanced tackle, as these fish can reach double-figure weights and put up a good fight. Additionally, Fingerpost Pool contains large chub up to 4lb and perch up to 3lb.
Heatley Mere, the club's first acquisition, is another notable water. It is considered the club's signature water and is home to a substantial number of large carp, some of which weigh up to 20lb or more. The Mere also boasts a healthy population of tench, bream, roach, hybrids, skimmers, and pike. Night fishing at Heatley Mere is permitted with a permit, and anglers are limited to two rods, unless they are the sole angler at a peg, in which case three rods are allowed.
Fishing is only permitted from numbered pegs, and fishing from the side where the houses are located is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, the club maintains a smaller pond, named Little Mere, located approximately fifty yards from Heatley Mere. Despite its small size, Little Mere surprises anglers with its depth and houses various species, including carp, bream, tench, roach, rudd, hybrids, skimmers, perch, and eels.
Club membership is open, with a membership year running from 1st March to 28th February the following year. New members are subject to a one-time joining fee, which is included in the membership charges. Membership can be secured by contacting Keith Whittam, the club's Chairman, via email. The club also welcomes enquiries from residents and can be contacted via email for any concerns or questions.
In the event of reporting a problem, members are advised to contact the Lakes Manager, Mark Morgan.
Dunham Massey Angling Club invites individuals passionate about fishing and appreciative of the natural environment to join their club and be part of a community dedicated to preserving the beauty of fishing and creating memorable experiences on their stunning waters.
