About
The Duck Mountain Nordic Club, formerly known as the Kamsack Ski Club, offers 54 km of cross-country ski trails within the beautiful boreal forest of Duck Mountain Provincial Park in Kamsack. The trails are maintained through a collaborative effort between park volunteers and club members, ensuring groomed and tracked trails for classic skiing. The club also strives to add skate lanes to certain loops for those who prefer skate skiing.
Five shelters, including the Log Inn shelter at the parking lot, Jack Rabbit, Ski Hill, Rundle Lake, Tamarack, and Moose Lake, provide warm and welcoming rest stops along the trails. The backcountry trails offer a more challenging terrain for skiers looking to test their fitness and technical skills. Snowshoers are welcome to explore off-trail, while walkers are encouraged to stay off the groomed trails to preserve the skiing conditions.
Membership in the Duck Mountain Nordic Club is essential for funding trail maintenance and improvements. Volunteers are greatly appreciated and can earn "Trail Karma" for their contributions. The club provides regular grooming updates to keep members informed about trail conditions and upcoming events, such as the annual Duck Mountain Loppet.
Whether you're a seasoned skier or new to the sport, the Duck Mountain Cross Country Trails offer a picturesque and invigorating experience for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels. Join the club, hit the trails, and revel in the natural beauty of Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
