The Drift Taster Experience at Driftland is a fantastic opportunity for those who are new to drifting or have only experienced it through racing video games. Driftland, a local Auto Racing club in Lochgelly, is offering participants the chance to try out drifting in real life using specially prepared BMW 3 series cars. It's going to be an adrenaline-fueled event that you won't want to miss!
When you arrive at Driftland, you'll be signed in and taken to a briefing area where you'll learn all about the venue, the cars you'll be using, and the safety factors involved. It's important to us that you feel comfortable and confident before getting behind the wheel.
The experience is conducted in small groups, with just four people per instructor and car. This allows for a more personalised and hands-on learning experience. Each person will have the opportunity to be in the car with their instructor for a 1-on-1 drifting experience. It's like having your own private tutor to guide you through the thrilling world of drifting!
The experience is divided into three techniques, with each technique lasting five minutes per person in the car. Technique 1 focuses on using the hydraulic handbrake setup to perform a proper handbrake turn. Your instructor will demonstrate and guide you on how to initiate a drift using this technique.
In Technique 2, you'll build upon what you learned in the first exercise. You'll learn how to balance the car while picking the perfect moment to come on throttle, also known as “catching the slide.” This technique will help you gain confidence and progress naturally onto “holding the slide.”
Technique 3 is where you'll put your newly acquired knowledge and confidence to the test. You'll have the chance to initiate a slide and drift a full corner of the track. You'll have five minutes of practice followed by three judged runs. Points will be awarded for each run, and the top performer in each group will be awarded the prestigious “Drifter of the Day” title.
After the drifting experience, everyone will gather in the briefing room for feedback from the instructor, certificate presentation, and a chance to chat with Driftland staff about the venue and future opportunities to learn how to drift. It's a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and discuss your shared love for drifting.
The Drift Taster Experience lasts approximately 2.5 hours from arrival to departure. We keep group sizes small, with a maximum of four participants per instructor and car, ensuring that everyone gets the attention they need. Please note that this voucher is for one person, and the order of proceedings may vary based on the number of participants on the day. We kindly request that bookings cannot be cancelled or rescheduled within seven days of the experience date, though one rebook is permitted. Participants must hold a valid UK manual driving license.
