Dr. Duriell Bernard is a Chiropractor, Health & Lifestyle Consultant, Orthotics & Prosthetics service, Personal Trainer, and Rehabilitation Centre, located in Burnaby, British Columbia. Dr. Bernard offers a higher level of therapy, education, and injury management to help individuals achieve optimal health and performance.
Dr. Bernard is a former national level athlete and understands the importance of movement, pain management, and performance on demand. He is a certified Olympic lifting and strength coach, a graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and has completed a specialty honours degree in Kinesiology Health and Science program at York University.
Dr. Bernard is currently practising at Total Therapy and Restore Sports Medicine Clinic in Burnaby. He is also a trained Medical Acupuncture provider and a trained TCM acupuncturist (currently not providing acupuncture in BC). Dr.
Bernard has extensive experience providing rehabilitative care for individuals dealing with sport-related and traumatic concussions.
Dr. Bernard has worked with Canada's best track and field athletes as the medical lead for Athletics Canada at their Toronto high performance training centre. He has also worked as a team doctor for Canadian Sports Institute Ontario (CSI-O) and with Dr. David Ablack and the Steel Machines – Strength and Power for Sport training top NHL, OHL, and CFL players.
Dr. Bernard takes an evidence-informed and rehabilitative approach to treatment, utilizing a wide variety of soft tissue therapies such as myofascial release, myofascial cupping, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (commonly known as Graston Technique). He emphasizes movement-based rehabilitation, combining essential movement patterns with daily occupational and sport-based movement requirements.
Dr. Bernard has served as the lead medical practitioner for Athletics at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and as the sole Canadian chiropractor at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. In 2019, he provided care for Canada's best para athletes at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai. Dr.
