Dragons Spirit Taekwon-Do

Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do is a well-established martial arts club located in the Papatoetoe Community of Auckland, New Zealand. With a history spanning over 39 years, the club offers traditional Taekwon-Do training, following the teachings of arts Founder General Choi Hong Hi. As a family based club, Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do has achieved significant success at both the National and International levels.

As a proud and loyal branch of International Taekwon-Do (NZ) or ITKD, Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do benefits from being a part of a global martial arts organisation. ITKD is renowned for its standardised syllabus, certified Instructors at the highest level, and thorough safety measures such as police vetting and first aid certification.

The philosophy of Taekwon-Do is deeply ingrained in the Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do club. By training in the ideals of freedom, justice, and building a more peaceful world, members hope to become better citizens and contribute to making their neighbourhoods safer.

The club is composed of proud supporters, including Gup Belts Patterns and Video Links, Black Belts Patterns and Video Pattern Histories, Black Belt Essays, and other valuable resources. The club is also proud to have a diverse and active membership that continues to grow.

Located in the Papatoetoe High School Gymnasium on Carlie St. , Papatoetoe, Auckland, New Zealand, Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do has been an integral part of the local community for over twenty years. The club was initially established under the leadership of Mr. Sam Clark in 1983.

On his retirement from Taekwon-Do, Mr. Clark passed on the reins to Mr. Kane Raukura and Mr. Steve Seigel, who currently lead the club.

With the assistance of an excellent team of black belts, the club has grown to over 70 registered members.

At Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do, the club abides by the five tenets of Taekwon-Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. These core values foster an environment of high expectations, achievement, and motivation, leading to numerous successes throughout the years.

The choice of the dragon as the club's symbol is significant. The dragon represents power, strength, wisdom, fierceness, pride, patience, dynamism, and enthusiasm, all qualities that members strive to embody in their training. The dragon's spirit reinforces the five tenets of Taekwon-Do and serves as the club's creed. As a symbol of the club, all students proudly display the Dragon's Spirit badge on their right dobok shoulder.

Dragon's Spirit Taekwon-Do is a member club of the larger Counties Manukau region of International Taekwon-Do. The club takes pride in its active participation in local, national, and international events, allowing members to showcase their skills and continually improve.
