Studio Pilates training. I am passionate about helping people to improve their strength, flexibility, and overall well-being through the practise of Pilates.
At Dorset Pilates, we offer a variety of Pilates classes to suit different needs and preferences. Our Mat classes focus on floor-based exercises that target the core muscles and help to improve overall strength, flexibility, and posture. We also offer Reformer classes, which involve the use of a specially designed Pilates machine that provides resistance and support for a more challenging and dynamic workout. These classes are limited to three participants to ensure individual attention and guidance.
In addition to in-studio classes, we also offer online Zoom Pilates classes for those who prefer to practise from the comfort of their own homes. Our online sessions are led by experienced instructors and provide the same level of quality instruction as our in-person classes.
For those who prefer more personalised attention, we recommend booking a private Pilates lesson. Our instructors are specially trained to work with individuals who have specific needs, such as post-rehabilitation, injury prevention, and prenatal Pilates. Private lessons allow for a tailored approach to meet your unique goals and challenges.
In June 2023, we are excited to be launching our first Pilates and Relaxation Retreat in Dorset. This retreat will be a blissful long weekend escape in the heart of the Dorset countryside, just a stone's throw from the majestic Jurassic coastline. Participants can expect luxurious accommodations, sumptuous vegan cuisines, and access to an indoor heated pool. The retreat aims to reconnect participants with nature, their bodies, and their minds for a truly rejuvenating experience.
We believe in the transformative power of Pilates, and as Joseph Pilates said, “In 10 sessions, you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions, you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions, you'll have a different body. ” Pilates is a mind and body conditioning programme that helps to rebalance and re-educate the body, promoting better movement and overall well-being. It strengthens the deep core muscles, releases tension, and improves posture.
Pilates is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, whether you are a newcomer to exercise, recovering from an injury, or looking to enhance your current exercise regime. It is highly effective for relieving back pain, realigning the body, and improving posture. In fact, top athletes and exercise professionals, such as Pat Cash, the All Blacks rugby team, and the GB men's rowing four, have all benefited from Pilates.
At Dorset Pilates, we offer group Reformer classes with a maximum of three people per class for personalised attention and guidance. We also specialise in 1:1 private sessions that incorporate other Pilates equipment, such as the Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Springboard. Our instructors are expertly trained to accommodate and rehabilitate a wide range of injuries and issues.
Feel at home in your own body with the guidance and support of Shannon Elize, our skilled and passionate Pilates instructor. With over 20 years of experience in teaching movement, Shannon is dedicated to inspiring women and men to transform their lifestyles and develop healthier and more holistic relationships with their bodies. She believes that feeling comfortable in your own skin and being able to calm the mind in chaotic moments are powerful tools for well-being, which can be achieved through the practise of Pilates.
