Dodgeball Federation Australia
The DFA is the official Governing Body that coordinates, governs and develops the sport of Dodgeball in Australia. In 2018, the DFA received recognition as a National Sporting Organisation by Sport Australia (formerly Australian Sports Commission). This was a major milestone for our sport, as dodgeball gears for growth nationally, including juniors in our school sports curriculum.
The DFA is an affiliate member of the World Dodgeball Association, and the Asian Dodgeball Federation, where our goal is to aid the development of the sport domestically, and across the globe.
On the international front, the Australian Dodgeroos are our national representatives.
Making our debut in 2015, the Dodgeroos have illustrated its prowess at international level. Thus far, Australia has four titles and 10 top-three finishes to its name, including the 2015 Asian Championships – won by our men’s, women’s and mixed teams. The biggest achievement was at the 2016 World Cup, where our women’s team prevailed in remarkable fashion, beating the world’s heavyweights to be crowned world champions.
The 2018 World Cup was hosted at Madison Square Garden in New York City, which brought more success to our national squad. Our women’s side claimed bronze to retain their number one world ranking.
The Australian Dodgeroos recently competed at the 2019 Asian Championships in Hong Kong. Our Men’s and Mixed team won their respective divisions, our Women’s team won Silver and our inaugural Under 21’s claimed Bronze. With these results, all four of our Australian teams successfully qualified for the 2020 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt.
