Welcome to Docklands Kyokushinkai Karate Club, a renowned karate school located in London's Docklands area. Founded in 1987 by Shihan Nick DaCosta, who serves as the Chief Instructor of the Word Karate Guild and British Karate Guild, our dojo has been dedicated to providing quality karate instruction for over three decades.

At Docklands Dojo, we believe in the power of karate to bring together a community. Our dojo serves as a gathering place for individuals from all walks of life who share a passion for martial arts and a desire for self-improvement. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment where students can develop their martial arts skills and personal character.

Under the guidance of Senpai Resh, who has trained under Shihan Nick since 1990 and assumed the role of lead instructor in 2022, our passionate team of instructors is committed to helping students on their Kyokushin journey. Whether you are a beginner looking to take your first steps in karate or an experienced practitioner seeking to refine your skills, we have a programme tailored to meet your needs.

Kyokushin is a style of karate that originated in Japan and was created by the late Sosai Masutatsu Oyama. Rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline, and hard training, Kyokushin is known for its intense physical fitness requirements and unwavering focus on developing strong character and mental discipline alongside martial arts skills. We thank Hanshi Steve Arneil, who was instrumental in establishing Kyokushin karate in the United Kingdom.

Located at the Barkantine Community Hall in London's Docklands, our dojo provides a welcoming and well-equipped training space. We offer a comprehensive syllabus that covers everything from basic techniques and stances to advanced kumite (sparring) and dan graduations.
