Happy New Year! Welcome to Ditchling Wild Piglets RFC, a vibrant and inclusive rugby club located in Hassocks, New Zealand. We invite boys and girls aged 5–11 years, from Reception to Year 6, to join our club and experience the excitement and camaraderie of rugby.
At Ditchling RFC, we believe that it's never too early to learn and enjoy the game that we all love. Rugby's core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship are at the heart of our club's environment and culture. We prioritise player welfare and safeguarding, ensuring that all children, regardless of their ability, feel welcomed and supported.
When your little Piglets join our club, they can expect to have fun, get some exercise, and learn something new. We foster an inclusive environment with a touch of healthy competition. Piglets will train in age-appropriate groups, consisting of approximately 8–15 children, following RFU guidelines. Contact tackling is gradually introduced from Under 9s (Year 4) and above.
Additionally, we are gradually incorporating friendly games with other local clubs this season, enhancing the overall experience for our Piglets.
Our coaching staff consists of RFU qualified coaches, who are also parents of children who play or have played in our Mini's section. All our coaches undergo DBS checks, ensuring the safety of our players. We have a range of coaching experience within our team, and we continuously support each other, rotating through the age groups to enhance our learning and development as coaches. As individuals who have grown up playing rugby ourselves, we truly appreciate the values and ethos of the sport.

In terms of logistics, our season typically runs from September to April/May, with short breaks for key school holidays. We commence our training promptly at 9:30 am every Sunday morning, unless weather conditions prevent us from doing so. Our annual subs are 80 per child, which includes a piece of club kit.
