Discovery Sailing Project

Discovery Sailing Project is a sailing school based in Southampton, New Zealand, that specialises in providing offshore sailing experiences for young people. With a focus on Scouts, Youth Organisations, and others, the project aims to help participants develop valuable skills through sail training.

The Discovery Sailing Project is proud to be part of the Scout Association, forming the Offshore Sailing section of the Dockland Scout Project. Guided by the values and methods of the Scout Association, the project offers a unique opportunity for young people to grow and learn in a safe yet challenging environment.

During their voyages, crews aboard our demanding yachts are encouraged to build resilience, teamwork, and perseverance. Our experienced sea staff create an environment where participants can push their limits and develop essential life skills. Safety is always paramount, and our staff are trained to ensure that all participants are well taken care of throughout their sailing adventure.

Discovery Sailing Project relies on the dedication of volunteers who love being on the water, whether they are skilled sailors, teachers, or have expertise in maintaining engines and electrical systems. We appreciate any help, whether it's for a few days or a few weeks a year. Above all, we are in search of individuals who have a passion for working with and helping young people.
