Welcome to Discovery Martial Arts Academy, a top martial arts school located in Plymouth. As advocates of TaekwonDo, we believe that this is a fantastic martial art suitable for individuals of all ages, genders, shapes, and sizes. Our goal is to help you learn one of the best self-defence systems available while getting fit and having fun.
At Discovery Martial Arts Academy, we specialise in traditional ITF TaekwonDo techniques, philosophy, and ethics. Our expert instructors are dedicated to helping you develop a solid TaekwonDo base, sharpen your skills, and provide you with power, speed, flexibility, spirit, and mental and physical agility that will benefit you for life. All you need to do is get involved and start your training journey.
Our programmes cater to a wide range of individuals, including adults and seniors. In a friendly and welcoming environment, you will learn effective self-defence techniques while also getting fit. Our experienced instructors will guide you through traditional TaekwonDo training and help you reach your personal goals, whether it's competition sparring or enjoying a regular workout.
For juniors aged 6–12 years old, we are proud to say that our Junior membership is strong. Each session is carefully designed to include a mix of traditional TaekwonDo techniques, supervised sparring, strength-building pad-work, kicking drills, traditional ITF Patterns, and self-defence moves. Our juniors have a lot of fun while learning a practical skill in a safe and supportive environment.
For our youngest members, aged 4–6 years old, our Taekwon Tigers programme is the perfect starting point. Taught by fully qualified instructors, this programme focuses on teaching basic TaekwonDo and important safety skills in a safe and controlled environment. With free belt gradings every three months, you will witness a positive difference in your child's concentration, behaviour, confidence, and self-esteem as they progress from white to black belt.
