The Dickson Aquatic Centre, also known as Dickson Pool, is an outdoor swimming pool facility located in Dickson, Australia. Under new management, the facility is set to reopen on Saturday, October 28. The previous owners, Dickson Aquatic Centre Pty Ltd, have reflected with pride on their 27 years of managing the facility and transforming it from an “ugly duckling” into a welcoming oasis for the community.
The staff, many of whom have been with the facility for over a decade, have played a significant role in making the Dickson Pool safe and welcoming. The pool community, including the dedicated Lap Legends who frequented the pool at 6am sharp and the families enjoying summer BBQs and swims, will also be missed. The facility has been a hub of excitement during school swimming carnivals, and the progress of kids in their summer swimming lessons has been celebrated.
The passing of Christine Graham, a matriarch figure whose care, passion, and dedication to the staff, customers, and the pool was unparalleled, has been mourned. Her contribution to the facility and the lives of the staff over the years cannot be understated. The hope is that the new operators will continue to care for the facility, the staff, and the community. The grounds, water, and facility require ongoing investment, care, and attention, and the community is seen as the custodians of this valuable asset.
After over 80 combined years in the industry, the previous owners bid farewell and express gratitude for the opportunity to have been part of such a special place.
