Are you the owner of Dharma Way Dojo / Self Defence Solutions?

Dharma Way Dojo and Self Defence Solutions is a martial arts school located in Christchurch, New Zealand. With a commitment to providing tried and tested practical self-defence methods, the dojo offers the best traditional martial arts instruction available in Australasia. Classes are conducted in private or small groups by appointment only.
The name “Dharma Way” encompasses the school's core philosophy. “Dharma” refers to cosmic law and order, representing the truth and teachings of the Buddha. The dojo, or school, aims to teach the true way, or Tao, of martial arts. Self Defence Solutions is the parent holding of the school, offering teaching services to government departments, corporations, and private entities in the realm of personal protection.
The self-defence programme at Dharma Way Dojo sets it apart from other martial arts establishments. The principle of dissipating force is emphasised, reflecting the only effective way to survive a real violent encounter. The school now provides approved certification in self-defence up to the master instructor level. One-on-one instruction is also available and has gained popularity among students.
In addition to self-defence training, Dharma Way Dojo offers instruction in various traditional martial arts. Tai Chi, specifically the old Yang style founded by Yang Lu Chan, is taught to provide both healing benefits and martial aspects. Bagua Zhang, characterised by circling and coiling movements, is known for its self-defence applications and reputation in rehabilitating the back and spine. Hsing I Chuan, which means “mind form boxing,” focuses on developing power and balancing one's energy according to traditional Chinese medicine.
The school also specialises in the Matsumura system of Okinawan karate, teaching the bunkai or applications for self-defence and the oldest traditional katas in the Shorin Ryu system. Additionally, Qi Gong, the practise of function exercise, is offered traditionally to ensure optimal results.
At Dharma Way Dojo and Self Defence Solutions, whether one's goal is health enhancement, self-defence skills, spiritual and consciousness exploration, or a combination of these, the school is dedicated to tailoring a programme to meet individual needs. Interested individuals are encouraged to watch videos and explore the website. Furthermore, the school offers two free lessons with no obligation to those who wish to experience the teachings firsthand.
