In 1993, he moved to The Belfry Hotel & Resort as the Senior Golf Professional, where he built a successful coaching facility and attracted local golfers to his enhanced coaching and golf services. Through an active marketing campaign, Derek expanded his business by 500% and engaged with local residents, schools, and businesses. He also established and developed the largest Junior Golf Foundation coaching scheme in the UK, with nearly 600 junior golfers enrolled in weekly sessions.
As an Advanced PGA Golf Professional, Derek has had the opportunity to work with some top coaches in the UK and has coached the Warwickshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire county squads in ladies, gents, and junior sections. Many of his pupils have gone on to become professional golfers themselves. With his vast experience and knowledge of the game, Derek adopts an approachable coaching style that is popular with golfers of all abilities.
Derek has also had the privilege of observing and interacting with some of the world's most famous golfers and coaches during major tournaments.
