Derek Simpson PGA Golf Professional is an experienced and highly qualified golf instructor based in Sutton Coldfield. With a mission to help golfers of all abilities reach their goals, Derek is known for his professional, approachable, and friendly teaching style.
Derek began his career as a golf professional in 1986 at Parklands Golf Club in Northumberland, where he coached thousands of golfers at a busy driving range. In 1993, he moved to The Belfry Hotel & Resort as the Senior Golf Professional, where he built a successful coaching facility and attracted local golfers to his enhanced coaching and golf services. Through an active marketing campaign, Derek expanded his business by 500% and engaged with local residents, schools, and businesses. He also established and developed the largest Junior Golf Foundation coaching scheme in the UK, with nearly 600 junior golfers enrolled in weekly sessions.
As an Advanced PGA Golf Professional, Derek has had the opportunity to work with some top coaches in the UK and has coached the Warwickshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire county squads in ladies, gents, and junior sections. Many of his pupils have gone on to become professional golfers themselves. With his vast experience and knowledge of the game, Derek adopts an approachable coaching style that is popular with golfers of all abilities.
Derek has also had the privilege of observing and interacting with some of the world's most famous golfers and coaches during major tournaments. Through these experiences, he has gained valuable insights into the pressure and approaches that top professionals use to maintain focus and discipline. This knowledge allows him to help his students improve their game and enjoy playing golf to the fullest.
In addition to his coaching services, Derek has established The Privilege Golf and Leisure Club, which offers club membership with access to a range of golf courses, corporate hospitality, and leisure facilities. This further enhances his ability to provide a comprehensive golfing experience for his students.
