39th birthday to Decidedly Jazz Danceworks! Since its founding in 1984 by Vicki Adams Willis, DJD has been dedicated to keeping the spirit of jazz alive in Calgary. As one of the only dance companies in North America focused solely on jazz dance, DJD presents new work annually, often with live original music, showcasing the unique and spectacular talents of its professional company dancers.
With over 35 years of experience in performance and instruction, DJD offers a wide variety of classes for all ages and abilities, from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals. The company believes that dance is for everyone and strives to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who wish to explore the art of jazz dance.
DJD also hosts a number of special events throughout the year, such as the Black & White Ball and Opening Night Celebrations, providing opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate the beauty and joy of jazz dance.
