She was made to feel welcome and supported by the staff at DAPA. The quality of teaching and the dedication of the teachers is clearly evident in the confidence and joy Hannah has gained from this experience. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing opportunity for our children to learn and grow in the performing arts. We are so grateful to be a part of the DAPA family.
Welcome to Dean Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA), Canterbury's top dance, drama, and music school. Established in 1998, DAPA has been nurturing young talents and helping them develop their skills in singing, dancing, and acting for over two decades. With a strong reputation for high-quality training and a caring, friendly environment, DAPA is the go-to place for performing arts education in East Kent.
Under the guidance of Principal Sarah Dean, who was once one of Britain's leading choreographers, DAPA students benefit from her extensive contacts within the professional theatre industry. Sarah's experience and knowledge in the field ensure that the standard of teaching and pupil achievement at DAPA has never been higher.
At DAPA, we offer a wide range of courses for all ages and abilities. For those looking to have fun and discover their love for dance, our Dance 4 Fun classes are perfect. These high-energy, upbeat classes in Street Dance, Musical Theatre, and Modern Contemporary Dance create a friendly atmosphere where students can learn to dance, make new friends, and have a great time.
For children aged 2 and above, we provide classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street Dance, Irish Dance, Musical Theatre, and Singing. These classes not only help develop technical skills but also focus on nurturing expression, confidence, and creating lasting friendships. DAPA students have had amazing opportunities to perform at prestigious events, including Celebrity Weddings, Royal Galas, and alongside Britain's Got Talent winners.
We also offer vocational training and audition technique classes for students aiming to pursue a career in dance and performing arts. With a 100% success rate in students achieving places at top professional dance colleges, such as The Royal Ballet School, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College, and more, DAPA provides the necessary training and guidance for aspiring performers.
In addition to classes, we organise annual shows, pantomimes, and holiday workshops for students to showcase their talents and gain valuable stage experience. DAPA students also have the opportunity to take exams and receive awards, ensuring progression and recognition of their hard work.
DAPA's dedication to providing a supportive and inclusive environment is evident in our Jolly Tots classes, where parents who attended DAPA when they were young now bring their own children to experience the joy of dance and performing arts.
