It was then passed onto Sugano Sensei, a direct student of Ueshiba Sensei, who brought Aikido to Australia in 1965. Barnes Sensei, already an experienced Judo and Aikido instructor, became a student of Sugano Sensei during this time, and he went on to establish Aikido in the Northern Territory of Australia.
