Running Wild – Alpine Challenge introduces the Darby River Half Marathon and fun runs as a fantastic opportunity for trail running enthusiasts to experience the beauty of Wilsons Promontory National Park. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 5, 2024, and head over to the Darby River car park to kick start the race day. Keep an eye out for the large white Running Wild banners to guide you in the right direction. Online entries will be accepted until the morning of the race, so make sure to secure your spot early. Arrive in the morning to get registered, pick up your race bib, and attend the pre-run briefing before setting off on your chosen course.
Remember to carry your water container or cup, as no cups will be provided at the drink stations along the course. Stay hydrated and energised with the nibbles available at the start/finish line and Darby Saddle. Safety is a top priority at Running Wild – Alpine Challenge, so be sure to carry essential items like a water bottle/container, pressure bandage, and a mobile phone for the duration of the run. Stay alert on the trails, give way to downhill runners, and help keep the environment clean by using the provided rubbish bags.
In case of emergency, first aid will be readily available at the start/finish and Darby Saddle. Please show respect to other trail users, give snakes a wide berth, and be aware of any bushfire alerts in the area.
