Dance with Sienna, previously known as Tribal Zest, is a vibrant Dance company and Performing arts group located in Edge Hill. Led by the passionate and experienced Sienna, Dance with Sienna aims to bring joy and light into the lives of its participants through the power of movement and creativity.
Sienna's ethos revolves around creating an awareness of the body, learning new things, and enjoying the magic of movement. The dance classes offered by Dance with Sienna are not competitive and are meant to be a source of fun and connexion. While the dance style incorporates complex moves and prop work, dressing up and performing is not essential. The focus is on the dance itself and the connexion formed with other women.
In each class, participants are welcomed into a circle of women, providing a safe space for creative expression and learning the dance language at their own pace. The classes feature a mixture of ethnic and modern music that is designed to inspire, captivate the mind, and get the hips bumping.
Established in March 2007, Dance with Sienna acknowledges Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who have been the Traditional Custodians of the lands, waterways, and skies across Australia for over 50,000 years. In the Cairns local region, Dance with Sienna specifically acknowledges the Traditional Owner groups, including the Yirrganydji, Djabugay, Gunggandji, and Yidinji people. Respect is paid to their Elders past, present, and future, and friendship and kindness are offered.
Sienna, the founder of Dance with Sienna, began her journey in Tribal Bellydance in 2002 as a student of Nina Martinez from Temple Rain. After moving to Cairns, Sienna started teaching and established her own dance school, Tribal Zest, in March 2007. Sienna's passion for the dance and her dedication to its growth and promotion led her to undertake intensive Global Caravan Dance study with Paulette Rees-Denis. She has achieved certifications in Collective Soul levels one to seven, Teacher Training levels one to three, and Tribal Grooves Teacher Training levels one and two.
The training timeline for Global Caravan Tribal Bellydance includes various Collective Soul and Teacher Training levels completed in different locations across Australia, the United States, and Hawaii. Sienna's commitment to Global Caravan Dance and her continuous learning is evident in her extensive training journey.
