Dance Club Blue Silver (DCBS) is a well-established dance club located in Richmond Hill. Originally founded in 1956 as the German Canadian Harmonie Club, the club has since evolved to reflect the diversity of Toronto's population. With a rich history spanning over 60 years, DCBS has become a staple in the dance community.
The main focus of the club is International style dancing, with specialty classes in American style. DCBS offers three semesters of classes each year, starting in September, December, and March for 10 weeks, as well as a Summer semester. Adult classes are held on Tuesday and Wednesday, with practice sessions taking place on Thursday evenings at the Ellesmere Community Centre.
In addition to classes, DCBS hosts several dinner/dance parties throughout the year for its members, including events for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and an end-of-year party in June. The club also organizes its own dance competitions, such as the Blue Silver DanceSport Trophy Ball, and members often volunteer at other dance competitions in the area.
The success of DCBS can be attributed to the dedication of its volunteers, who work tirelessly to ensure the club's smooth operation. Jeff Henssen has been the principal Dance Director for many years, with Diane Kimler also playing a significant role in enhancing the club with her dancing and teaching skills. Phil and Patricia are also valued members of the teaching team, bringing their expertise to the club.
Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just starting out, DCBS welcomes dancers of all levels. Join us at Dance Club Blue Silver and experience the joy of dance in a vibrant and welcoming community.
